How to separate line art from the white in GIMP?
I've been going crazy, because I cannot find a tutorial or anything that will help me. All I want to do it separate the line art from the white background on a scanned picture in GIMP.
Can anyone tell me a really, really good tutorial or tell me how to do this? Thanks!
First, in order to get the best-quality line art from your scanned picture, I would suggest increasing the Brightness by 10 and the Contrast by 30 or something along those lines. This will make your line art clearer and get rid of some blotches. Second, go to Color, then in the middle/near-bottom of the drop-down menu, click "Color to Alpha."* A menu will come up and click the color. Change the color hexcode to six 0's ("ffffff"). Color to Alpha will remove all white in the picture. If you change the color to blue, it will get rid of all the blue.
*Or Color to Alpha may be in Layer --> Transparency --> Color to Alpha. Color to Alpha may be in different locations depending on what version of GIMP you're using.
