Trends: Stock Photos Include Wedding Photography
About 2.4 million couples get married in the U.S. each year, averaging $20,000 per wedding. It is a $70 billion business.
New developments in technology over the last decade have enabled processes that now produce fast and inexpensive on-demand production and distribution for a variety of products and services. During the Digital Revolution in the 1990s there was a rapid drop in costs and expanded power of digital devices including digital cameras.
Today, photographers have mastered the art form of digital photography, which allows clients much greater flexibility and artistic style for their cherished images which can be placed in digital photo frames, on websites and shared via iPods, handhelds, and on the Internet.
Media outlets have also had to change the way they do business in view of the Internet and online publishing, including the use of stock images as opposed to high-budget editorial productions. Stock photography saves money on skyrocketing and extravagant production costs.
