protective covering for canvas paints?
so i painted this canvas with oil paints and i want to hang it over my stove but the thing is i know, even if it isnt that often, food will most definately splash on it, so does anyone know of like a protective seal i could paint over it or spray to where i could just wipe off the food? or even a creative idea for some sort of cover would be good too =)

You can wait to varnish it or you could use a clear coat spray right away. Clear Coats (the Most Popular brand is Krylon) are clear acrylic based clear spray paints that dry instantly. I would recommend you apply several extra clear coats if you intend to wash the painting often. And when you do wash it never clean it with any kind of detergent cleaner. A warm wet fine thread washcloth wetted with normal tap water will do just fine. Detergents or cleaning chemicals will dull or damage the coating.
