Should I make a collage or landscape for my dad's birthday?
Here's some ideas I have for my dad's birthday present. All are art related. 
1. Make a collage with various things that my dad likes. Such as a Coffee Bean cup with a bagel on the side, with my dog's head sniffing at the bagel on the side. And then maybe it would all be on a table and then there would be a picture of his favorite baseball player and a book from his favorite author right next to it. And then his ipod on the table plus other things. All would be colored in multiple mediums such as pastel, watercolors, and colored pencil.
2. Make a landscape of his favorite team in a stadium playing baseball. In different mediums again, watercolor, pastel, and colored pencil.

I think it really depends on what type of art that your father is most interested in. But if you want my honest opinion, I think that you should do a collage with your dad's favorite things. I think it's much more personal then the Landscape of his favorite team.
There are many people out there who like the same baseball team. But there isn't many people that favorite or have every thing combined that you mentioned up there, meaning it's more personal to him. Besides, If you do a combo of everything, it proves that you pay attention to the little, special things about him, and not just one thing that he likes. You know what I mean?
Also, personally I always found well done Collages more interesting then landscapes any day. But that's just me. ^-^
